WHEELING — ‘He’s Alive!” the acclaimed musical passion play produced and directed by Heaven Bound Ministries, is returning to the historic Capitol Theatre in Wheeling this coming Palm Sunday weekend, March 22, 23 and 24.

The Friday and Saturday performances of March 22 and 23 begin at 7:30 p.m., and the Palm Sunday matinee, March 24, will begin at 3:30 p.m.

The doors for each of the free performances will open one hour before the performance time. As always, seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis. No reservations or tickets are needed.

“He’s Alive!” has become the Ohio Valley’s Easter season tradition. This year will mark the 20th year that this powerful, live on-stage musical ministry event has been presented to the community. This Christian theatre production involves a cast and crew numbering nearly 300 members, all of whom hail from the tri-state area. All of those involved volunteer their time and talents in bringing the scriptures to life on the stage of the beautiful Capitol Theatre.

Every year, more than 4,000 people are welcomed into the historic venue to watch the “greatest story ever told” – that of the life, death and mighty resurrection of Jesus Christ – come to life on the stage in this inspiring musical drama.

Although “He’s Alive!” was first presented in 1996 as an Easter cantata in a local Wheeling church, the musical passion play has been enhanced over the years with additional music, scenes, character portrayals and powerful production assets.

One thing that has never changed is the closeness of the cast to the audience. One of the most common comments received by the viewing audience is, “The presentation is so very real. The cast is always so close to us. It feels like we are stepping back into Biblical times and walking with Jesus and His disciples! We experience the sadness of His crucifixion but then the joy of His resurrection!”

The board members of Heaven Bound Ministries, the ministry organization that produces and directs “He’s Alive!” said they are thrilled with those comments.

“We strive for that genuine sense of closeness with Jesus Christ for our audience and for ourselves,” the board members said.

“He’s Alive!” is produced and directed by Heaven Bound Ministries, Inc., a non-profit, non-denominational organization devoted to the sole purpose of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through Christian entertainment via music, drama, humor and the spoken word. Heaven Bound Ministries is governed by a board of directors that includes: Brenda Hetzel, Paul Smith, Richard Headlee, Kaleb Kibble and Jeannie Pierce Waychoff.
