More Great Work From Wheeling Park Students
What an incredible couple of weeks it has been for students at Wheeling Park High School.
Last Tuesday, we lauded the school’s girls basketball squad and also its Speech and Debate team for winning state championships. That was the tip of the iceberg, though.
Park’s “Iron Patriots-Wagyu” robotics team grabbed the state robotics championship at Fairmont State University, and will join two other school teams this summer traveling to the VEX Robotics World Championships.
Along with that, Park students Mo Smith and Julianna Walters were honored in Parkersburg for their entries in the West Virginia Art Education Association Youth Art Month. Smith’s piece, “Waiting on a Wish,” was named overall best in show while Walters’ work, titled “Dehumanization,” won first place in painting.
Not to be outdone, members of Park’s Young Patriots were named the 2024 West Virginia State Honor Choir by the West Virginia Music Educators Association.
To wrap up the honors, Wheeling Park junior basketball standout Alexis Bordas was named the 2023-24 Gatorade West Virginia Girls Basketball Player of the Year, the second straight year she has received the honor.
What an excellent mix of academic, athletic and artistic achievement shown by these students.
