LINDA GEREG
Linda Lee Kafton Gereg, 77, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack October 10, 2024.
Linda was born May 28, 1947, in Weirton, West Virginia, daughter of the late Lela Rose Birkhimer Kafton and Karl Charles Kafton.
She graduated high school in 1965 from Cameron High School. After graduation she traveled to Washington, D.C. and started her working career with the CIA. She met her husband Allan while they worked for Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). Following her time at MSHA she worked as Administrative Assistant at Community Mental Health Services in St. Clairsville and an Executive Secretary to the President at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel in Wheeling, WV. Linda married Allan in 1978 and lived happily with her husband for 46 years.
She was lovingly dedicated to her family, cherishing her time spent with her husband, children and grandchildren. Linda was an involved member of Professional Secretaries International and served as Treasurer, Vice President, and the President of her WV chapter. She was an active member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in St. Clairsville.
She was a revered role model and had an excellent work ethic. Linda enjoyed traveling, especially to Hilton Head Island on annual family trips. As a hobby, she was passionate about taking photos. She lived to help her family and friends with everything they needed. She treated everyone with dignity. She was a real class act.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Allan P. Gereg; her three children, Jerri L. McCombs, Kristopher Gereg, and Colleen (Steven) Yesenczki; five grandchildren, Leyna Jae Bertelli, Bradon Kelly Conway, Isaac Cameron Nicot, Noah Andrew Gereg, and Charlotte Elizabeth Yesenczki; her two sisters, Marsha J. Bland and Joyce L. Surbaugh.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church 50470 National Rd., St. Clairsville, Ohio, with Pastor Gary Eller. The burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
