ESTHER CHALFANT
Esther Louise Chalfant, 96, of Follansbee, WV died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at home with her son by her side.
She was born on September 17, 1928, in Washington, PA, a daughter of the late Howard and Helen (Burwell) Wright. In addition to her parents Esther is preceded in death by her beloved husband William C. Chalfant, Sr; one brother, Harlan Wright; and one sister, Shirley Caldwell.
She graduated from Avella High School. Esther was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Follansbee, and she worked over 20 years and retired from the Brooke County Board of Education where she was a secretary.
Esther is survived by her only son, William “Bill” C. Chalfant, Jr. M.D. of Follansbee, WV, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation for Esther will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm and again on Wednesday, October 23rd from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral at 12:00 pm with Pastor George Romage officiating at Mullenbach Funeral Home 669 Main St. Follansbee, WV 26037.
Interment will follow at Independence Cemetery in Independence, PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave. Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
